We are super excited today because Daddy got a day off!!! First one since mid-August! The girls were VERY excited to see him home, in bed, when they got up. That almost never happens!
We didn't do much today. We took it easy and slept in since it was such a late and exciting night!! The Sharks pulled off a very good win and we didn't get home until after 1:00 I think. We all got some much needed sleep and decided to go to Gilroy Gardens. It had been a while since Rick had been there and we wanted to get at least one last time in before the season is done. I am hoping to go a few more times.
I'll post pictures probably tomorrow, but we had a great time. I enjoy so much spending time as an entire family! The girls love their Daddy so much that that have an extra sparkle in their eyes when we do something with him.
Ashleigh has been quite the chatterbox lately! She has decided to start telling jokes....that she makes up! A few examples.....she put a sock on her hand and says, "Why did the sock decide to go to the hospital? Because it was sick!" Then she tells the same joke but gets a shirt of mine and puts in on her head and says shirt instead of sock. She thinks it's just the funniest thing ever and laughs and laughs at her jokes. We can't help but laugh because she is cracking herself up so much!
On a more serious note, she made us both a little teary eyed tonight. We have been talking a lot about our friend's son who just graduated from basic training this weekend and how different it is when your kids are grown up and need you in a different way as a parent. I have been telling Rick that I don't even want to begin to think of that and how my friend must really be hurting. Apparently Ashleigh has heard us talking.
I asked her to get her clothes off so she could take a bath and she started to throw a fit and refused. I told her then she can just go to bed without a bath. She came crying out of the bathroom and when Rick asked her what was wrong she said, "I don't want to grow up because I don't want to not need you."
Our four year old is worried about growing up and not needing us. I don't want to think about the girls growing up and needing us in different ways. I know she doesn't understand what growing up means, but I still can't believe she is worried about us!
Ashleigh is a very caring, loving and giving little girl. We can only hope she will continue to be like that as she does grow up. I can only thank your parents for raising us the way they did so that we could raise our children with the same values that we were raised with.
