The Stash!

The stash!

This is going to be a weekly installment on my blog for the next few months. Rick has decided to shave off his goatee and start growing a stash...much to my dismay!

He has been growing it since January 1st and this is what he has so far! I am sooo not used to seeing him without chin hair! I think he looks silly without it...like a baby! He shaves it off every now and then but for most of our lives together, he has had it. I'm just starting to get used to him not having it when....the stash finally made an appearance!

I noticed it when I saw him on TV in Edmonton on Friday the 9th. Up until that point, it was just fuzz....light and hardly there!! Today when he got home I got a first hand look at it up close and personal! That's what inspired me to take a picture and blog about it!

Rick is not at all a hairy guy.....THANK HEAVENS!!! I know that if you are a hairy guy you can't help it, but I am so not a man hair lover! That being said, you can imagine what his stash will look like when he is finished growing it! He is going to grow it until the season is over....whenever that may be...hopefully June when we win the cup!

Pretty soon...well in a couple months!.... it's going to start to get long in the sides and he will be able to grab the hair with his teeth and he will be grabbing it all the time! That's usually when he decides to shave it...not this time!!

Let's just say I am not at all pumped about the future with the stash!!

Today he did his hair especially for my blog to accent the stash and how greasy he looks!!

Stay tuned for next weeks installment of...........THE STASH!

Randomness.....

I decided that after my post yesterday, I needed some laughs. I said I was going to post pictures...so here are just a few random ones from the week before we had company. Tomorrow I can hopefully post some from the visit from Heather and Rick's parents. These were taken about a month ago....and I can't believe how much things have changed!!

This picture makes me smile every time I see it!! Addison seriously was so tired that she started to fall asleep on Rick's foot. We were at the rink I think...dang I'm a poet and didn't know it! lol

This is another one that makes me smile!! You all know me and taking pictures of random people that I think are interesting....well lets just say blue hair.....interesting!! Now I don't know if she had a reason to wear a blue wig, but come on now!! If I had to wear a wig...it certainly wouldn't be a blue afro!!!We love Norma!!! This is her posing for a picture with Ashleigh and trying to get the blue haired lady in the picture again!! We probably took 10 pictures!! I'm sure the people around me thought I was quite the moron to keep taking the same picture over and over and over again!!! Her and I do that quite often with the repeated attempts!!! lol I can't believe how long Ashleigh's hair was before she got it cut!

Addison has to have a turn to ham it up for a picture! She has on our friend's Santa hat and just loved it!!

This was the last nap taken in Rick's old La-Z-Boy......

This is the first nap taken in Rick's new La-Z-Boy!

It just happened to be perfect timing on getting a new chair. Rick's boss was moving and had no room for it and we were thinking about getting a new one eventually....and well we got a new one to us! As you can see...everyone loves it!!

Change Of Plans....

I fully intended to, when I sat down at my computer, to look through pictures and post some of them....but now have had a change of plans.

I decided to check Facebook first and then get on to the pictures. What I saw there moved me to change my whole mind set for my blog.

A friend of mine was tagged in a picture so I looked at the pictures. Her husband is the cousin of the mom of a very sick little boy. Hope you got all that! lol

Anyway her husband is on the team and brought a friend to the hospital yesterday to see the little boy. Rick got the jerseys ready so the boys could do a visit with their sweaters on for the little boy. I don't know much about the little boy, but he is 7 and had heart surgery. He is also autistic.

There were pictures of him before and after the surgery. He doesn't look scared at all. The after pictures are what really got to me. He is hooked up to all these monitors and has tubes and wires everywhere and a scar from his neck to his belly button.

I am just thankful for our healthy children. I can't imagine going through what these parents are going through. I know there are sick kids all over but it really moved me to see someone we knows family that is hurting like this.

I just had to post about it because Rick called while I was looking at the pictures and thinking about our girls. I started crying, realizing just how lucky that we truly are. I know you deal with what life throws at you and if this happened to anyone of us we would learn to deal with...as this family has...but I am very thankful that our girls are happy and healthy and we are blessed with them in our lives.

My cousin is adopting two little boys from Haiti and has been doing so for over a year and half and still doesn't have them to hug and hold. I can't imagine not having our girls to hug and hold and to tell that we love them each day.

If anything, I just hope everyone realizes just how lucky they are and cherish the time you have with your family and loved ones. You never know when something may turn your world upside down.

Another Installment......

Because everyone loved the videos from yesterday....here's another installment!!

The first one is of Addison in Gus' kennel. I have been babying him a little lately and put his kennel in the living room in case he wanted to go in it. This is what I found this morning after the girls woke up!

And if it wasn't enough just to have Addison in the kennel....then they proceeded to do this.....and an added bonus is an appearance of Gus with his cone!!

There was a video of Ashleigh just "trying" out the kennel but I thought this one was better!!

Ashleigh is my Guiding Light girl. Usually if Addison is asleep, we sit down and watch it. She always sings to the opening song. She loves singing it so much that I usually have to rewind it several times. I typically just fast forward through it...but not when she's watching with me. I just get a kick out of her singing and adding extra words each time the chorus comes around! Don't mind her hair...she forgot to comb it apparently! lol

Tomorrow I'll try to post some pictures instead of these dorky videos!

Ashleigh Singing And Addison Being Addison

So three out of four days for me updating is pretty good! I'm shooting for everyday again!! Yeah for all my 5 readers!! lol

We haven't been up to much. I planned Gus' neutering when I did so we could stay home with him for at least a few days and monitor his...well progress! Let's just say it's been interesting!!

I got one of those E collar things from the vet. They didn't want to give me one because he wasn't licking in his two hours of recovery time there. Now we all know that is an adequate amount of time to see what a dog is going to do DAYS from then!! They finally gave me one after I had to argue about the price that I was quoted.

I decided to try a paper plate first thinking that since I have a little dog it would work better than the cone thing. I ended up taping about 6 paper plates together to make what looked like an upside down Mickey Mouse!! They were the strong paper plates. So I'm thinking we're golden and will be able to take the E Collar back to the vet.....haha wishful thinking!!

So this afternoon I let Gus outside to "get busy" and when he came in......no plates around his neck!! I'm so pumped to have to try to get his crazy self in a cone!!! So I go to the car and get the cone and manage to shove his head in it and tie it tight before he runs away. Well it took him all of 5 minutes to rip it off and proceed to chew it!! Good times!!

Now I have to wonderful task of catching him, with him knowing that he is getting this big cone in my hand around his neck! I finally tackled him and got it on his neck. Now when he walks after me, he follows so close that his cone hits my leg! Not to mention when I open the sliding glass door to let him out, he manages, everytime, to get his cone caught on the edge of the door! lol

On to other exciting news...my mother in law got a call from the Ellen show today!! She won day 7 of the 13 days of Christmas giveaways! I'm pretty pumped that someone I actually know won! She won a Bulova watch and LL Cool J clothing...which is so funny because she keeps calling it LL J Cool clothing!!! hehe I got a kick out of her telling me she kept telling the Ellen show lady to tell Ellen that she loves her! lol I know she is one of my 5 readers so thanks for sharing your awesome news and providing laughs with the LL J Cool clothing!!

And I have to post a video of Ashleigh singing in her head. She told me she wanted to make a video for Daddy this last road trip and this is what she wanted to tell him. And of course I couldn't just post a video of Ashleigh. Addison had to make a video for Daddy too. They are something else!!

I hope everyone enjoys the videos....until tomorrow!

A Big Day In The Bronwell Household!!

So yesterday was a big day for us here in our house! Gus went to the vet to get neutered!!! Let me tell you...trying to explain what neutered means to a four and two year old was fun! lol

Rick left yesterday for a Canada road trip and will be back late late on Saturday night after the game in Vancouver. I decided what better time to get Gusto taken care of then right now. We are going to Disneyland in a few weeks and I wanted him to be neutered before we kenneled him. He doesn't hump a lot and I didn't want him to get used to doing it so that he would do it when he was neutered. We don't have anything going on until Thursday when skating starts again and we can stay home for a few days to keep an eye on him.

The girls and I drop him off in the morning yesterday and then were told to pick him up between 4 and 6 that night. The girls were so curious as to what the word neuter meant. I tried to tell them that it just is something you do to your animals so they can't have babies and that all animals have to have this done because we don't want a million dogs and cats running around. In the car on the way to the vet, Addison asked if, since Daddy was a boy, if he had to be neutered too so he wouldn't have any more babies! lol I kinda ignored her because I didn't know what to say. So she then proceeds to ask me the same thing in the vet!! I had to tell her, first to use her inside voice, and second that no Daddy doesn't have to be neutered that it is just something that we do to the animals. All the cats have been either neutered or spayed. I'm now thinking to myself...Heather why did you say the word spay! lol Because of course, that brought on the questions of what spaying was!!! So again I tell them it's neutering but only for girls cats and dogs. You can imagine what is coming next!! And I tell them no, Mommy doesn't have to be spayed and they don't either just because they are girls! Only animals have to have it done! I'm glad we are done with that conversation! It was just so funny as to how curious they were!

We picked Gus up at 4 and he is doing well. There isn't any stitches so he doesn't have to go back. He is trying to lick a little but really not too bad. I'm just glad it's over with and we don't have to worry about doing it.

Other than that, it's been pretty boring here. We are just relaxing today and then cleaning house tomorrow and just kinda chilling at home. It's been rainy and cold so I don't mind not going anywhere.

Hopefully I can find the time to post more pics!

I'M BAAAAAACCKK!!!

My New Years resolution is to be more up to date on my blog!! I have been totally slacking lately and I end up blogging about is how much I am slacking!!!

I finally have been able to put some pictures o my computer from my camera. I just feels o busy and have so much to do that I haven't had time! I am going to put some up on my blog everyday until I get them all up!

These are from the Sharks Christmas party we had in December. The girls had such a good time!! Ashleigh skated for HOURS!! She loves to skate!! Addison was very scared at all the pucks flying past her and the fast skaters. She didn't end up skating very long but did have a good time as well!!

Rick is trying to get Addison to skate by using buckets with her! It didn't last too long. I ended up helping her and using the buckets for me!!! My skates were KILLING my feet!! I think it took me longer to get them laced up then it did to skate!!!

I LOVE this picture!!! Ashleigh was skating so good and really was enjoying being on the ice!

We skated over to see Santa. Daddy had to fix his hat. Addison wasn't so sure about him at first, but ended up coming over so we could have a family picture taken with him. I have to get a new scanner so I can scan it and post it.

Ashleigh and her friend and her dad.

Of course we had to take a picture with Sharkie!! Addison decided she wanted to sleep in Daddy's office so she missed out on seeing Sharkie.

Ashleigh LOVES LOVES LOVES ribs!! Our good friends at High Five catered for us. The food was amazing!!!
Addison woke up to eat!! lol

They are so cute!!

Funny face time!!! She definitely takes after her father!!! lol

Ashleigh was pretty pumped about her gigantic Santa cookie!!

Addison was also pretty pumped about her gigantic Snowman cookie!!

Each kid that is part of the team got a gift. There were presents everywhere. They had the kids sit and wait for their name to be called. Addison was called about 2nd or so. When she heard her name, she just sat there! I had to go and tell her that it was her and not someone else! She didn't know what to do and was so shocked that her name was called so soon! lol Her present was bigger than she was!! She caused a great laugh with her taking a picture and barely seeing her little head!!
Ashleigh, on the other hand, had to wait until almost the end to get her present!! She waited so patiently and didn't whine or cry about not getting her gift. I think she was 2nd from the end on getting her present!

Finally getting to take her picture with Santa!!

Addison LOVED her gift!! She toted this HUGE box all around the rink showing everyone! lol

Ashleigh's box was so heavy...and like Addison, she toted it all around showing everyone!!

Addison got a Little People Royal Castle and Ashleigh got Dora Bowling. We are very fortunate to be part of a team that values family as much as the Sharks. Since this is our first team in the NHL, we don't know how other teams are, but it was so nice that they do this for the kids. The other teams we have been on haven't done anything like this. Last year we were in Kansas City and missed it. I am so glad we were able to make it this year. It just makes our holiday season and adventure with the Sharks a little more special!
